Deer Nara
6:07 PM
While cities like Osaka is an amazing place to be, Osaka is also one of the most convenient spots in the Kansai region, as it is very close to Kyoto, Nara, Kobe and even Hiroshima. It takes less than 2 hours on the JR West Line to go to any of the aforementioned places.
Of the cities I visited in the Kansai region, Nara was one of them. And at Nara, deer are most popular.
Nara Park
Deer roam around at Nara Park. And as a word of precaution, when walking along the Nara Park, there are notices warning tourist to be careful of the deer as they will bite, kick, butt and knock you down if they are in a bad mood. For those brave souls who want to buy snacks from vendors at the park to feed the deer: please be warn that deer will follow you and sometimes bite your clothes or butt you for some of the treats you are holding onto.
However, it's not all that bad to be in an area where you get to be super close to wild animals. Sometimes, you might even get a chance to take some amazing pictures!
While deer could be the main attraction, there are other attractions in Nara too, including more temples (i.e. the Kofuku-ji Temple and the Todai-ji Temple), shrines (i.e. the Kasuga Taisha Shrine and Japanese gardens (i.e. Isuien Garden and the Yoshikien Garden).
It was a relaxing half day in Nara, to just walk around. Not really my style when travelling, but all was good. However, before I close, I guess I should mention about some foods to eat.
While I didn't eat any foods in Nara, you might be wondering what I eat at the start of my day every day in Japan. The answer is simple: seaweed rice wrap and meiji milk sold at all convenient stores! While you can't go wrong with any food in Japan, please do not, DO NOT, eat the plum sauce seaweed rice wrap. You will definitely regret it.
