Château de Versailles et les jardins
7:03 PM
It’s been a while
since I posted. I last left off with my visit in Paris back in… April.
Continuing this catching up trend, it’s time to talk about a side trip I did in
France to the Château de Versailles. It’s been way too long since I’ve been here (since grade
12)! So to be honest, I don’t remember much about this Palace. It’s still very
beautiful!
Taking an early train on the RER-C (thank goodness the strike did not affect the train schedule!) we made it just in time for the opening. There was still a short line up, but it didn’t take long before we made it inside. (note: it’s better to go there early!)
Walking through
rooms and rooms in the palace, listening to the audio guide on all these
history behind every painting hung on the palace and furniture that have
stationed here in time, thankfully not crowded with people yet.
Then passing
through empty hallways. It’s like time has stopped for a while. It was nice!
My favorite room
however was the room of mirrors. I think everyone stayed here because it was
crowded with people. Trying to take pictures of this room with no interference
was almost impossible. Here’s an attempt:
The
highlight however of this place was, however, the garden! This is very garden
was the one the palace in Peterhof mimicked! Obviously, the original isn’t as magnificent as the one in Russia, but I have
such a relaxing time walking through the garden at Versailles looking for
fountains that were working. (Note: not all fountains at the Château de
Versailles will sprout out water, there were like may be a total of 5 and it
only shots out water at scheduled time.)
