Living the Life; Miami on a Yacht

5:34 PM

Over the Easter Break this year, I checked off a pretty cool item on my bucket list: living on a yacht.

A group of friends and I found a yacht listing on airbnb and decided we must try it out. We didn't actually spend too much time on the yacht, but did spend most of the time on-shore, with minimal day time on the yacht, since a trip to shore on the dingy takes approximately 30 minutes (one way) and there are lots to do on land.

Shopping and Beaches
Aside from shopping on Lincoln Road (www.lincolnroadmall.com), we spent most of the time at the beaches including South Beach Miami and Nikki Beach (www.nikkibeach). Quite a relaxing trip if you ask me. I would highly recommend all to bike on Ocean Drive. Not only are there a lots of restaurants you can stop by, it's also quite amazing to be biking beside some really nice cars.

Food and Drinks
Of course, food is always a highlight.

Daiquiris are a must when you are in Miami. After all, they have happy hour 24 hours a day. Most of the restaurants along Ocean Drive, and they have really amazing deals. Of the ones I tried, I really enjoyed the Strawberry Daiquiris.

Of the meals I had including goodies we found at the grocery stores to enjoy back at the yacht, I would highly recommend Joe's Stone Crabs (www.joestonecrabs.com). Unfortunately they do not take reservations, but if you don't want to wait for a spot for more than an hour or two, there's a takeout area beside the actual restaurant which serves the same food. I highly recommend the stone crab and the seafood chowders.

Things to do on a yacht
Lastly, I will just suggest somethings one can do on a yacht. (1) Have a nice breakfast with wine and cheese on deck. What's better than watching the sunrise and eating breakfast at the same time? (2) sleep on deck. When was the last time you got a chance to see the stars in the sky with a warm breeze on an ocean? And (3) Drive a dingy. This is the little boat that took us from the yacht to shore. You don't need a license, but do watch out for the waves created by other speedy boats!

Vacation on a yacht, checked. Until next time.
